What tools should used when making jewelry

Knives
Knives are important when selecting jewelry and watch repair tools. They help to shape and carve metals, metal clays and wax during the jewelry making process. Scissors
Scissors are used to cut threads, paper patterns, lengths of leather, tread and other material you might use to make your adornments. It is better to have a good sturdy pair on hand at all times.
Pliers
Pliers are a necessity for basic jewelry projects such as beading and wire wrapping. And there are many different types of piles, there are Chain-nose pliers , Bent-nose pliers, Round-nose pliers, Flat-nose pliers, Crimping pliers and Nylon jaw pliers. When you first start jewelry making, you need good pairs of round-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers for making loops, opening and closing jump rings and other basic jewelry-making techniques.
Cutters
These are used to cut wire, and the cutters you used must of high quality. When they cut, they leave one side of the wire with a flat surface, but the other one is slanted. This may be a problem if you are cutting jump rings with cutters instead of sawing. So get one that cuts as flat and neat as possible. It will save you a lot of filing.
Files
Files are used to remove sharp edges, small burs and for rough finishing when working with metal. There are small sets that come in an assortment of styles for working with jewelry. These are designed to fit the job at hand. Sometimes you might need to file a certain shape and so they have invented files for all different shapes to be worked.
Other Jewelry-Making Tools
Aside from these basic jewelry-making tools, there are others that are a little more costly but that can help you with more advanced projects, and specialty tools that make certain techniques simpler. Consider adding a jig, ring mandrel, crimping tool, bead knotter, bead reamer, jump ring maker and bead gauge to your jewelry-making supplies.
